Using AdBlock and AdBlock Plus

If you are already using Adblock or Adblock Plus, already know how to use it, and just want to fix the site scheme CSS from being blocked, add @@http://stat.livejournal.com/*css* to your whitelist. This will let the CSS through while still blocking the ads.
This guide is mostly focused on using AdBlock and AdBlock Plus with LiveJournal.
[edit] Introduction
Adblock and Adblock Plus are extensions of Mozilla Firefox. If you don't already have them installed, go to this page (Adblock Plus -- recommended) this page (Adblock) and click on "Install Now". It's going to warn you about possible evildoers who want to install things, but wait until it lets you click on the "Install" button. You'll have to restart your browser after it installs.

Note: new advertisers are being added to LiveJournal all the time. It is recommended you use a filter subscription such as Filterset.G or EasyList, described in sections below, instead of trying to manually block every ad serving domain you see on LiveJournal.

[edit] Using pre-made filters
As you may not know how to use filters or which filters you should use for wider Internet use, you can install pre-made filters such as the ones cited below.
[edit] Using Filterset.G (Adblock only)
We recommend users of Adblock install the Adblock Filterset.G Updater extension which will download and update your Filterset.G filter automatically.
If you want to manually install the Filterset.G filter, go to the Filterset.G homepage. Click on Filterset.G then read the file named instructions.txt. To install Filterset.G 's whitelist filter, click on Filterset.G Whitelist-Beta then read the file named -wb-instructions.txt.
Note: adserver.livejournal.com/*, .anrdoezrs.net/*, *.unicast.com/, *.yieldmanager.com/*, and *.googlesyndication.com/* are blocked by Filterset.G.
While Filterset.G can be used with Adblock Plus, for a variety of reasons this is not recommended.
[edit] Using EasyList (Adblock Plus only)
Another filter list you can use with AdBlock Plus is EasyList. Adblock Plus will automatically download updates to EasyList every 5 days.
You can subscribe to EasyList when installing Adblock Plus (after installing the Adblock Plus extension, restart Firefox and check the box in front of EasyList). Otherwise, if you have already installed Adblock Plus, go to Tools--->Adblock Plus then go to Filters--->Add filter subscription. In the 'Subscription title' drop down menu, select 'EasyList (USA)' then click on 'OK'.
Additionally, you can also install the EasyElement filter which will hide leftover spaces and 'sponsored' text ads. On this page, click on 'Add the EasyElement subscription to ABP'.
Note: adserver.livejournal.com/*, .anrdoezrs.net/*, *.unicast.com/, *.yieldmanager.com/*, and *.googlesyndication.com/* are blocked by EasyList.
