The chage_journal_type command in LiveJournal's Admin Console has been restricted. Not anyone can use it. --kunzite1 12:46, 7 December 2006 (EST)

Can you expand on (or rewrite) this ?

A Shared journal is a journal where several users can post to it. You cannot create a Shared journal; you can convert a community into a Shared journal. It is to be noted that this ability has been restricted and that not anyone can convert a community into a Shared journal.
To convert a community into a Shared journal, the person who created the community must log into their account then go to the Admin Console and use the change_type_journal command:
change_journal_type communityname shared
This person will also be the maintainer of the Shared journal and their password will be the password of the Shared journal.
To give other people posting access to the Shared journal, the maintainer must go to the Admin Console and use the sharedjournal command:
sharedjournalname add username
Should the maintainer want to take back this priviledge, they must type:
sharedjournalname remove username
To turn a Shared journal back into a community, the maintainer must go to the Admin Console and type:
change_journal_type sharedjournalname community

What I meant to say is that even the owner of a Shared journal cannot convert it to a Community. This functionality has been since removed from LiveJournal's settings. --kunzite1 14:53, 7 December 2006 (EST)

Oh! oh. Then what about:

A Shared journal is a community which has been converted into a journal where several users can post. It is no longer possible to convert a community into a Shared journal.

OK. Here's the deal: A Shared Journal is a journal that was created after the invention of Personal Accounts but before the invention of Community Accounts. A Shared Account is exactly the same as a Personal Account except that multiple people can post to it, just like a community and the Shared Account cannot post to itself. It is impossible to create new Shared Accounts on LiveJournal. --kunzite1 18:41, 7 December 2006 (EST)
