Talk:Bugs
From No LJ Ads Wiki
It is possible the community has gone completely private and is now available only to members;
The deal is that there was a snafu with the email posting from
burr86. He receives emails for each transaction in RT. If the transaction was related to a ticket in the Bugs queue, it would be posted to
rt_bugs. If it was opening a new ticket, it was posted publicly. If it was changing the status of a ticket (open to resolved, resolved to closed, closed to opened) it was posted publicly. If it was adding a new comment/reply/response to the ticket, it was posted as members-only.
He changed something with his email, with the way he was posting, or something and it screwed up the security of the mobile posts.

All I know is that there haven't been any public posts since 08/11, but the archive shows many posts being made. I haven't heard anything else on the matter, but making it members only would make sense after requests I've seen to not link to posts in
rt_bugs, which isn't supposed to be an "outward facing" community. Has
burr86 talked about this anywhere?

On or around 08/11 is when said snafu happened. AFAIK, he hasn't changed it back to the previous behavior. He's been saying that "it's not a user-facing community" for forever and a day. So, the two events are probably non-related. He just hasn't been quick to get it back to how it was.

I will try to revise the article to reflect this information. If it never gets back to how it was, it's effectively become a members only community, whether it's from a snafu or a purposeful decision. If we start seeing public posts again, I will revise the information again.
