The term Friend is a loaded one in the context of LiveJournal.
- You can "friend" Personal Accounts.
- You can "friend" Community Accounts.
- You can "friend" Shared Accounts.
- You can "friend" Syndicated Accounts.
- You can "friend" Identity Accounts.
To "friend" an account means several things.
When you "friend" an account that is not an Identity Account, the following things occur:
- The public entries posted to that account appear on your Friends Page
When you "friend" a Personal Account, the following things occur:
- They gain access to your protected entries.
When you "friend" a Community Account, the members, maintainers and moderators do not have access to your protected entries, unless those specific accounts are on your Friends List.
However, when you "friend" a Community Account, it is said that your account is now "friended by" the Community Account.
