From No LJ Ads Wiki

CProd (which stands for Cattle Prod) is a box containing tips from LJ on some of the site's application pages. Logged-in LJ users can see them all at http://www.livejournal.com/didyouknow/.

The main motivation behind CProd was revealed to be Plus adoption in this post (lj_design).
